The LARC was established on April 1, 2014 as the first centralized Language Assessment centre in Saskatchewan. It is one of the community projects administered by the International Women of Saskatoon (IWS) Inc. on the principles of consultation, collaboration, and coordination.
IWS is a registered charity established in 1985 with the mandate to help improve the status of newcomer, immigrant, and refugee women and their families residing in Saskatoon and area by assisting them to become full participating members of Canadian society. In the years that IWS has been in existence, we have gained significant experience and thus developed a strong organizational capacity to help support the effective settlement and integration of new Canadians in Saskatoon through free pro-grams and services.
Our past experience as one of the LINC providers in the city has helped to prepare us for this new role and also equipped us with the requisite capacity to help support clients’ language needs vis-à -vis assessments and referrals.
IWS is committed to furthering the objectives of the LARC Project through client-centred care, effective coordination, community leadership, and by liaising and working collaboratively with LINC service providers and other community stakeholders in order to implement the key deliverables and achieve the intended client outcomes.
